Mahlasela has been a revelation in his first full season in the PSL in the colours of Celtic and it is no surprise that there has been interest in his services from rival Absa Premiership clubs.
Word reaching this website is that Celtic have already offered the 26-year-old a vastly improved deal to what he initially signed two years ago, although he failed to put pen to paper before leaving on holiday.
“Celtic tabled the new contract a while ago but Skipper [Mahlasel] left for offseason without signing it. He now has decisions to make because Celtic have offered him the platform to break into the PSL and know too well about how well his career will progress there,” a source close to Siwelele tells KickOff.com.
Having long been an Orlando Pirates player, who had been thrown around on loan to Roses United, Sivutsa Stars and Royal Eagles, he finally became free to move away permanently two years ago.
At that time, he penned a deal with Celtic but was then loaned out back to Eagles just six months in.
However, since returning in July last year, Mahlasela has proven to be an exciting midfielder whose abilities have left several clubs licking their lips in admiration, with Kaizer Chiefs at the forefront.
