Mabena is currently a free agent after parting ways with Platinum Stars at the end of last month.
This website has since gathered that Mabena, who has also been linked with a move to Kaizer Chiefs, arrived in Bloemfontein this morning where he is expected to conclude a deal with Siwelele today.
Phunya Sele Sele CEO Khumbulani Konco has confirmed the club's interest in Mabena.
"Yes, there is interest but I can't say anything more than that," said Konco.
Meanwhile, Celtic and Cape Town City are set to appear before the PSL's Dispute Resolution Chamber today to discuss the case involving midfielder Lyle Lakay.
City took Celtic to the DRC in a bid to secure Lakay's clearance certificate. Phunya Sele Sele believe the player is still contracted to them until June 2018.
