Leopards hope to keep Downs duo

Last term, Sundowns loaned the midfielders to Lidoda Duvha for the entirety of the season, with both featuring regularly as the club finished third in the NFD before entering their ultimately failed PSL Promotion Playoff campaign.

Shozi, who forged a telling combination with Leopards captain Siphelele Ntshangase, made 25 league appearances and scored five times, whilst Mkhulise only missed one league match for the entire season, with a return of three goals.

“Sphelele and Khaya [Shozi], we are waiting for Sundowns' feedback after we sent them a letter requesting if we could extend the loan deal by one more season,” Leopards’ finance manager Rendani Thidiela tells KickOff.com.

“We are now just waiting for feedback from Sundowns' management if they will consider our request.”

Leopards did not extend the contract of former Sundowns tough-tackling midfielder Mumuni Abubakar, and the player has already been snapped up by Free State Stars for this coming season, where he has reunited with ex-Leopards assistant coach Selaotse 'Sly' Mosala.

However, they are in talks over retaining the services of DR Congo midfielder Jean Munganga, who needs only put pen to paper after all parties agreed terms.

Thidiela adds: “We still negotiating with Munganga, whose contract has expired and we've agreed [an extension] and we are just negotiating with small terms before he signs his new contract."
