Sundowns legends help 200 in Mams

PSL Lockdown News

Themba Zwane helped Sundowns legends Daniel Mudau and Themba Mnguni reach 200 families in a food distribution drive in Mamelodi on Saturday.

The legends were joined by Sundowns supporters, Mams Bikers as well as KickOff.com reporter Ernest Fakude as they went door to door to distribute parcels to needy families in Mamelodi.

This was the second time Masandawana supporters donated food to those in need in Tshwane after they undertook the same initiative last week.

Sundowns national supporters co-ordinator Cedric Moela says their mission was to cover more than 200 families around Mamelodi.

"We have realised that the government alone won't manage to assist the disadvantaged and needy families," Moela tells KickOff.com.

"As the Mamelodi Sundowns supporters and Mams Bikers we came with this initiative to assist the needy families and the government.

"Some of the women are selling magwinya [fat cakes] and brooms street by street and during the lockdown they did not have any form of income. Some of them don't qualify for the social grant because they are under the age of 60 years and only survive with a kids' grant.

"We felt that was not enough to support the family during this difficult time and hence we came with this initiative. We have adopted 200 families. Last week we distributed food parcels to 100 families and this week we visited 100 families.
