KickOff.com has learnt that a SuperSport United player has been released on bail after he was arrested for speeding at 213km/h.
The player, whose name has been withheld until we can get official confirmation, was reportedly granted R1 500 bail.
He is expected to appear at the Randburg Magistrate's Court in July to face charges of speeding and reckless driving.
According to the Gauteng Department for Community Safety, the player was travelling on the N1 freeway at 213km/h in a 120km/h zone near Sandton on Sunday.
"A 32-year-old male driver was arrested this morning for speeding in a white Audi A6 TDI at 213 km/h on a prescribed maximum limit of 120km/h zone on the N1 freeway," stated the department on Saturday.
"He was detained at the Sandton Police Station and is expected to appear in court soon to face reckless speeding charges."
SuperSport United media officer Brian Moshoeshoe did not respond on the alleged charges laid against their player after failing to pick up calls and texted to say he was in a meeting.
