Pirates star sets Gabuza reports straight

PSL Lockdown News

Orlando Pirates defender Ntsikelelo Nyauza has dismissed reports that he was with Thamsanqa Gabuza when the striker was arrested for speeding.

Gabuza was arrested and released on bail over the weekend after being caught driving 213km/h on the N1 freeway and is facing disciplinary proceedings at SuperSport United.

Certain media reports claimed Nyauza was part of Gabuza's group of friends who were also said to have been arrested at the time, but the Buccaneers star insists he was nowhere near his former teammate.

"I read with disbelief that I was part of the group that was arrested with Thamsanqa Gabuza," Nyauza tells KickOff.com through his representative and former SABC Sport presenter Tshepo Mabona.

"I would like to put it on record that although we are friends, I was not in the company of Gabuza and his friends during the said incident.

"We have been following very strict guidelines in accordance with the COVID-19 regulations by the government.

"I condemn the irresponsible accusation and reiterate that I was not part of the people in the vehicle."
