Wits star finds new home after club sale

Premiership

Stellenbosch have completed the signing of former Bidvest Wits defender Zitha Macheke on a free transfer after the club's sale to Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila.

Macheke, 26, holds vast experience in the South African top-flight since graduating from Kaizer Chiefs academy system in 2014 as a teenager.

He racked up 34 appearances for the Students in the 2019/20 season and will now provide healthy competition in Steve Barker's defence as an option at full-back and centre-back for the upcoming season.

Stellies finished in 10th place in their debut campaign in the South African top-flight and will be looking to build on the solid performances as they continue to bolster their squad.

"Stellenbosch is pleased to announce its latest acquisition in the successful signing of Zitha Macheke from Bidvest Wits," the club confirmed on their official Twitter account.

Macheke has amassed over 100 appearances in the South African top-flight and featured six times in the Students CAF Confederation Cup campaign last season.
