Chiefs’ new signing is ‘amazing’

Former Portugal youth international Zequinha has warned Kaizer Chiefs to expect fireworks from Kgaogelo 'Kigi' Sekgota when he joins the club in the new season.

Sekgota has already signed for Chiefs and will be moving across when AmaKhosi begin pre-season training next month.

"Based on what I know of him he has the quality to play for any big team," Zequinha tells from Portugal.

Zequinha was formerly on the books of FC Porto and played with Sekgota at Vitoria Setubal in 2019.

"He is a good kid who is a little bit shy which is why he doesn’t just get excited off the field. The plus is that he is a good player and great human being as well.

"So, he will not have any problem whatsoever playing for a big team. He will make it happen for Chiefs with his skills. I know that Kaizer Chiefs belongs in the big three in South Africa and compares to Benfica, Porto, and Sporting here in Portugal. He has so much potential I fear that South Africa hasn’t really seen what he can really do yet.

"I am talking about a player who in one-on-one situations is unbelievable. He is an amazing player in one-on-one situations, I always feel that he is even better than the players I played with at Porto in those situations.

"I just feel he needs to score more goals which means the team needs to be a bit more direct in the way it plays for him to get into scoring positions a lot more. However, one against one he is unbelievable, and I am serious about this. He is fast and will destroy everything in a one against one situation. If he has a good season with Chiefs, he can still come back to Europe."

Glimpses of what the 23-year-old have already been seen through his time at Swallows where he scored thrice this past season.
