Swallows FC head coach Zeca Marques has discussed the possibility of signing trialists Jabulani Shongwe and Sherwin Naicker.
Midfielder Shongwe and goalkeeper Naicker were at one stage teammates at Absa Premiership side Golden Arrows, but now find themselves having to undergo trials at the second-tier club in order to earn contracts.
"No decision as yet. I can't give more than that. They are training with us, that's it," Marques tells KickOff.com.
"We've got five goalkeepers... do we need an extra one? We've got six midfielders, do we need an extra player there? That's the thing. But Shongwe is just training with us, I don't know why people are pushing the agenda with Shongwe. He is training with us."
Asked if by that he meant there were no plans to sign the Emalahleni-born midfielder, Marques was hesitant.
"Not for now. He is training with us, that was an arrangement I had, not to sign him, never said that. He didn't approach us, his agent approached us for us to look at him as a possibility. That's what it is," he explains.
"So far because of the short term that he's been with us, no we haven't seen because we've been travelling... so that's why he is there, to be assessed properly so that if we make a call it's the right call and that's it. I'm not going say that [he will sign[ because it might not happen, sorry. He's there, that's it. We are assessing him."
Swallows are still without a win after two matches in the GladAfrica Championship.
