After George Maluleka reportedly signed a pre-contract with Mamelodi Sundowns, Kaizer Chiefs have commented on whether or not he will play in the fixture between the two teams.
Since the news was announced on Wednesday, many fans are asking the question if Chiefs will field Maluleka against The Brazilians on 15 April – a massive fixture in the title race.
Chiefs announced that Maluleka had turned down the club's new offer in favour of a move to join Sundowns next season, claiming he signed a pre-contract with them.
Amakhosi had initially offered the Tembisa-born midfielder a two-and-a-half-year contract as his existing deal expires in June.
The Glamour Boys also said in their official statement that they were not happy that Sundowns negotiated with Maluleka without first informing the club, as per FIFA rules.
Amakhosi spokesperson Vina Maphosa says Chiefs have not yet taken a decision on steps against Sundowns if reports that Maluleka has signed a pre-contract are true.
"Everything just happened yesterday and I can't give you anything for now," Maphosa tells KickOff.com.
"The game against Sundowns is far on April 15, we can't even talk about that [if Maluleka will play] now."
