Midfielder Lehlogonolo Masalesa has explained why he chose to join Chippa United.
The former Orlando Pirates and Platinum Stars midfielder was on the books of Black Leopards last season after joining them as a free agent, and played a key role in the middle of the park as Lidoda Duvha avoided relegation.
Masalesa did engage with Leopards after the season, but they were not able to reach an agreement.
“After the season ended obviously I engaged with Leopards and in terms of what I was looking for, they were not willing to give me. So we could not agree on certain things and then Chippa came in with a good offer for me. I considered it and decided that it would be a good for me,” Masalesa tells KickOff.com.
“Chippa was not my only option, but I felt that Chippa was my best option out of all the offers that came. I think it would be disrepectful to name the clubs, but it was not just Chippa interested in me.”
Chippa have previously shown an interest in Masalesa, but he chose to join Platinum Stars when he returned from a short spell in Greece in 2017.
The Chilly Boys finally have their player on board and he’s settled in well.
“You know how it is in football, you meet up with people you have played with before. So it’s not hard to settle it, especially because I’ve been playing for a while. You cross paths with people you’ve met before, so it was not hard re-adjusting. This is a good and professional environment.”
