Maritzburg United have parted ways with assistant coach Vincent Kobola.
Kobold left on Monday after a meeting with the club during which both parties reached an amicable agreement.
His departure from the Team of Choice comes soon after the club brought in Delron Buckley as second assistant coach.
According to a source close to Maritzburg, Buckley will now be promoted to the position of first assistant coach to Eric Tinkler.
"Tinkler is very sad to see Kobola leaving Maritzburg United, they are close and enjoy a good working relationship," the source tells KickOff.com.
"They both worked very well to qualify for the top eight and also for the Telkom Knockout final last season.
"The players are also devastated. Kobola was more than a coach and played a crucial role in the dressing room. His departure has taken everyone by surprise."
Maritzburg will be searching for their first win on Wednesday when they face Cape Town City at Harry Gala Stadium (19h30) after losing 2-1 to Baroka FC last weekend.
