Uncertainty remains on troubled Mahlambi

Uncertainty remains on the status of injured Chippa United star Phakamani Mahlambi's season who continues to be sidelined by a long-term injury.

Mahlambi's agent Glyn Binkin revealed it is not yet clear if his client will return to action this current season.

The talented 24-year-old who is expected to return to parent club Mamelodi Sundowns in June 2022, has made only appearances for the Chilli Boys this season and has scored one goal.

Binkin confirms his client was disappointed by the injury as he hoped the loan move from Sundowns to Chippa would assist him to rediscover the form that saw him being signed by African giants Al Ahly in 2017.

"Yes, he still injured and undergoing rehab," Binkin tells KickOff.

"I don't know how long it will take to heal, it's a work in progress at the moment and he's currently in rehabilitation.

"It's his Achilles tendon, but I hope he will be back before the season ends, but one never really knows you know.

"It depends how he responds to his rehab and treatment, but hopefully he will be back sooner rather than later.

"He's obviously disappointed, but he's just working out trying to get back to full fitness, he's currently in Port Elizabeth."
