Ex-Chiefs pair set for dramatic departure


KickOff has been informed that two former Kaizer Chiefs players will be on their way out of their current employer at the end of this season.

Hendrick Ekstein will be joining veteran left-back Tsepo Masilela on the way out at AmaZulu upon the expiry of their contracts at the end of next month has had limited game time through this season.

Ekstein has only played 11 games and has neither a goal nor assist from his appearances – none of which have been full 90 minutes shifts.

He has started only three games with his contribution diminishing under Brandon Truter.

The 31-year-old joined Usuthu at the beginning of the season Sabah FK and FK Sabail in Azerbaijan.

His contract expires at the end of the season.

He spent the bulk of his career at Chiefs.

Masilela (37) has been applauded for the way he has served AmaZulu since joining in November 2019 but with his game time minutes dropping, he will leave on a free.

The veteran left-back has played 29 games through his time at Usuthu with only seven appearances this term.

Masilela spent six years at Chiefs.

Also leaving at the end of the season is Malawian defender Limbikani Mzava.

He has only played twice this season and was already not in Benni McCarthy’s plans before the former Bafana Bafana international left.
