Pirates confirm plans for Mabasa

Orlando Pirates have revealed the plan for striker Tshegofatso Mabasa who's yet to start a game for the club this season.

Mabasa has endured somewhat of a frustrating time since joining the club from Bloemfontein Celtic due to niggling injuries that have prevented him from an extended run in the first team.

But with his finishing ability unquestionable, which was displayed with a fine header to secure maximum points in the original Soweto Derby against Swallows this weekend - the club is keen to wrap him up in the proverbial cotton wool.

"He was cleared at the time of our first match against Swallows," co-coach Fadlu Davids told the media. "So he is still going through the process of his own pre-season, so to say.

"We're building him up around his individual periodisation plan, but so far he's doing well.

"We know he can't yet complete a full 90 minutes in terms of the intensity that we want. But it's a step-by-step process for him.

"Yes, he always has a goal in him and he's a different type of striker from what we have. He's also always in the right place at the right time."

The 24-year-old has scored 16 goals in 46 games for Pirates with only 15 of those appearances being in the starting line-up since his arrival from Siwelele in July 2019.
