The 10 greatest foreign PSL strikers

Premiership

In light of the passing of former QwaQwa Stars and Kaizer Chiefs striker Emeka Mamale, we remember 10 of the best African strikers who have plied their trade in the PSL.

Five years ago KICK OFF's Lovemore Moyo compiled a series of features on the top 30 African strikers who have played in South Africa, and Mamale came in at No. 22 on our Zimbabwean journalist's list.

Moyo cited his huge impact at QwaQwa Stars in 1996 as the reason he eventually found his way to Kaizer Chiefs, where he did not become a household name but where his talent was certainly validated.

The former DR Congo international sadly passed away from a sudden illness on Friday at just 42 years of age. May he rest in peace.

Mamale was one of hundreds of foreign strikers who have some to the PSL for work and outshone local forwards, and many quality goalscorers from all over the continent have graced our shores over the years.

Some of the best African strikers have broken records and become heroes for local teams, winning almost every cup in South Africa for giants like Kaizer Chiefs, Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates.

In the gallery above, in no particular order, we look at 10 African netbusters who inspired many and are still respected amongst all the legends of the PSL
