Tyson reveals Lorch jersey verdict

New Orlando Pirates defender Thulani Hlatswayo has revealed the outcome of the meeting he had with Thembinkosi Lorch regarding their clash of jerseys.

'Tyson' wore jersey number 3 at Ajax Cape Town and Bidvest Wits but faces a problem at Pirates because the jersey is already taken by the former PSL Footballer of the Season.

The Soweto-born defender has penned a three-year deal with the Mighty Buccaneers with an option to renew and is viewed as the club's marquee signing of the off-season.

But Hlatshwayo, who is currently in camp with Bafana Bafana as the national team prepares for international friendlies against Zambia and Namibia this week, says he has a huge amount of respect for Lorch and cannot step on his toes.

"I have to check which numbers are available and I have to respect Lorch," Hlatshwayo admitted.

"He has been at Pirates before me and I don't want to disrespect him and go for him. I am not that big as a player to say I am not going to play if I am not wearing jersey number 3.

"I said I am going to talk to him, which I did, and I told him that there is no pressure, I am not going to change what relationship you have with the jersey.

"I wore jersey number 3 at Ajax Cape Town and at Bidvest Wits but unfortunately now the jersey is not available. Now I have to check which available jersey I will choose."
