Still no Lorch for Pirates?

Orlando Pirates will play game number 15 in a row without Thembinkosi Lorch today if the exciting attacker doesn’t take to the field again following an injury absence that continues to be wrapped up in mystery.

Pirates host Black Leopards at Orlando Stadium (17h00) needing all the points in their press for a place in continental football next season.

Lorch last featured against SuperSport United in February due to a muscle injury that Josef Zinnbauer has continuously not been convincing in giving an authoritative update on raising fears that there could be more than what he is saying.

Whenever Zinnbauer has been asked about Lorch he has been saying that he is hoping to have him back soon but doesn’t know when.

This has added petrol to the fires of speculation that have suggested Lorch is pushing for a way out at Pirates following interest in his services from abroad.

The 27-year-old signed his first contract with Pirates six years ago but then spent the first two away on loan at Cape Town All Stars and Chippa United.

He has previously indicated his desire to pursue his career overseas and at one time there was interest from Europe while North Africa has also been mentioned.

Lorch has so far missed all of Pirates’ six CAF Confederations Cup group stage matches, two Nedbank Cup games and all the last six league games.

His absence has meant he has not been able to add on to the four goals and five assists that he has provided in 18 appearances this term.
