Orlando Pirates midfielder Thembinkosi Lorch has confirmed receiving offers for his services from clubs abroad during the recent transfer window.
Lorch was the subject of transfer speculation for several weeks as reports emerged that clubs in Belgium and France were looking to lure him away from Pirates.
The 26-year-old, who was crowned Footballer of the Season last season, however, will continue to ply his trade in the PSL at least until January.
Reasons therefor have since been revealed, with ‘Nyoso’ further contesting that he has nothing to prove in terms of his quality this season.
“I think I had the offers from overseas, but I think the offers were not good for both the team and me,” confirmed Lorch.
“I have a contract with Pirates, so I have to focus and do my best [for the club]. I’ve heard some coaches telling me that I have to score and do what.
“No, I’ve done my part last season, I don’t have to prove [anything to] anyone. I just have to play my football and help the team win games.”
Regarding a future move abroad, the lanky winger says if compelling offers do come for the club then they will have to let him go, while he remains focussed on the current task at hand.
“You know in South Africa, every player wants to go overseas, especially at my age. I just have to work hard because God’s time is always right,” he added.
“If the offer is good for club then they have to release me. But for now, I have contract with the team, and I have to honour and respect that.
“It doesn’t matter where [the offers come from], as long as I play overseas with the best players and compete with them.
“Not to say in SA there is not good players, but I’ve done my part. Since I’m still here, I just have to prove I am the best.”
