Zwane hits impressive PSL milestone

Mamelodi Sundowns star Themba Zwane has achieved an impressive milestone in the DStv Premiership after he scored his 50th league goal during Friday's win over AmaZulu.

Zwane joined an exclusive club of footballers to have scored a half-century of goals in the South African top-flight when he netted the opening goal of the 2021/22 campaign from the penalty spot during Sundowns' 1-0 win over last season's runners-up.

The 32-year-old achieved the milestone in his 226th appearance in the competition across spells with Masandawana and Mpumalanga Black Aces, with whom he netted four times in 27 matches during a loan spell in the 2013/14 season.

In doing so, Zwane has become one of only nine active players to have achieved the 50-goal mark in the league, alongside Ndumiso Mabena, Kermit Erasmus, Gabadinho Mhango, Bongi Ntuli, Bernard Parker, Lehlohonolo Majoro, Khama Billiat and Bradley Grobler.

His tally includes double-figure hauls in each of the last two campaigns and is bolstered by an equally impressive return of at least 28 assists during his time in the big leagues, according to statistics from Transfermarkt.
