Mnguni: Now Masandawana can breathe

Former Mamelodi Sundowns star Themba Mnguni is relieved to hear about Pitso Mosimane's contract extension and admits it was keeping him up at night.

Club president Patrice Motsepe announced a four-year contract extenstion at a virtual media briefing on Thursday following months of drawn-out talks and speculation.

Mnguni, who pleaded with Motsepe to keep Mosimane at the club, is delighted that 'Jingles' will continue the mission to build a strong force in African football.

"He has extended? Siyabonga! It's good for the team," Mnguni tells KickOff.com.

"Because we need to learn more from Mosimane. He still has a lot to achieve. It was disturbing with these rumours. Now we can breathe."

Mnguni says Motsepe has always kept his word to everyone at the club and appreciates the Sundowns boss for always making sure he puts people's needs before himself.

"The president always keep his promises. He always said he wants Pitso to be our Sir Alex Ferguson and he has done that. He has fulfilled all his promises. We thank him for that," Mnguni concludes.

Mosimane in his six years at Sundowns has guided them to nine trophies – four league titles, one CAF Champions League, one CAF Super Cup, two Telkom Knockout trophies and one Nedbank Cup.
