Premiership

As the end of the year approaches, KickOff.com takes a look at the best PSL team from January to December based on their league games played.

For many, 2020 will be a year to forget in that it not only threw us a huge curveball in the form of Covid-19 but also brought with it its fair share of challenges.

Naturally, some have handled it better than others, but which PSL club has played their hand the best this year when it comes to the Absa/DStv Premiership?

It's no secret that Mamelodi Sundowns walked away the most successful after bagging the treble last season, which included the league and Nedbank Cup double in 2020.

The Brazilians also managed to accumulate the most number of points when it comes to their league games played over the course of the last 12 months.

Sundowns collected 49 points from 24 Premiership clashes this year, averaging in at just over two points per game – quite impressive for a team that also endured some changes in technical personnel, it must be said.

Polokwane City were the biggest losers as they got relegated to the GladAfrica Championship after accumulating only 12 points from 15 games played last season.

Big surprises include Kaizer Chiefs dropping to eighth position on the 2020 log table after coming in second in 2019, though they too underwent a coaching reshuffle.
