2020/21 PSL Awards winners announced

The 2020/21 PSL Awards winners have been announced with Benni McCarthy among the big successes at the prestigious event hosted on Sunday evening.

In the second consecutive virtual awards event due to the coronavirus pandemic still preventing a sense of normality in South African football, it capped off the inaugural Dstv Premiership campaign.

In what will live long in the memory for Mamelodi Sundowns who smashed several records to their fourth straight league title, AmaZulu who finished as runners-up and Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila who won the Nedbank Cup - there were several players who were honoured on the evening.

However, it was McCarthy, who steered Usuthu from 12th place when he was hired in December, to second-place ahead of Orlando Pirates and Golden Arrows that lifted the coveted Coach of the Season title.

He pipped Sundowns co-coached Manqoba Mngqithi and Rhulani Mokwena and Abafana Bes'thende's Mandla Ncikazi.

SuperSport United midfielder Teboho Mokoena walked away with the Goal of the Season for this stunning strike against Stellenbosch.

The special PSL Chairman's award went to Isilo Samabandla, King Goodwill Zwelithini KaBhekuzulu and General Bantu Holomisa.
