Kutumela's fine form yields big reward

Maritzburg United have met with striker Thabiso Kutumela and extended his stay with the club beyond this season.

Kutumela joined United from Orlando Pirates in 2018/19 on a short-term contract with an option to renew.

The former Buccaneers striker has since earned himself another chance to keep his contract at the Team of Choice following his fine form this season.

Team manager Quinton Jetoo confirmed the news to KickOff.com but would not reveal the length of Kutumela's new deal.

According a source close to Maritzburg, the club has been impressed with his contribution this season and wanted to tie him to a long-term contract.

"Thabiso has done well this season. The club has been impressed by his attitude both on and off the field," the source adds.

The 26-year-old has already received a Bafana Bafana call-up this season after being named in Molefi Ntseki's squad for the postponed Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

United are yet to renew defender Siyanda Xulu's contract, which is due to expire at the end of the season.
