Swallows update on Thibedi future

An update has been provided on the future of Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Given Thibedi, who spent the 2020/21 season on loan at Swallows FC.

Thibedi had an impressive debut season in the DStv Premiership with Swallows, having helped the club secure qualification to the MTN 8 next season.

The Soweto-born attacker spent the last two seasons with the Dube Birds, who he also helped earn promotion from the GladAfrica Championship in 2019/20.

He is now set to return to the Chiefs Village to try and impress new coach Stuart Baxter, who has been appointed as Gavin Hunt's successor.

Swallows boss David Mogashoa has confirmed to KickOff.com that Amakhosi have recalled the 23-year-old before taking a further decision on his future.

"He has gone back to Kaizer Chiefs. The new coach has to look at him. We will wait and see [if there is chance of him returning to Swallows next season]," says Mogashoa.

The Naturena-based outfit are expected to announce a number of new signings in the next couple of weeks in bid to reinforce their squad for next season.

Sfiso Hlanti and Kgaogelo Sekgota are some of players expected to be paraded by Amakhosi ahead of the new season.
