Truter defiant about Swallows' downturn

Swallows FC head coach Brandon Truter says his team's recent string of draws is nothing of a concern.

Though the Beautiful Birds have so far kept their unbeaten record in the DStv Premiership, they have now registered six successive draws and remain third on the league table with 30 points from 16 matches.

However, they remain just six points behind league leaders Mamelodi Sundowns with just about half the season still left to play.

Truter says he is not concerned about their recent results after flying out of the blocks in their debut top-flight campaign.

"No, I'm not [concerned]! One needs to put it into perspective," Truter told earlier this week ahead of their clash with TS Galaxy today.

"Yes it's draws, but these draws except for Chippa and AmaZulu that was at home, might be a disappointment... firstly, AmaZulu was on a roll when we faced them at Dobsonville.

"People and media were even saying they are going to beat us but we dominated the game from the second minute after they had their only chance to score in the first minute.

"Then the other draws were against Sundowns [away], Orlando Pirates [away], SuperSport [away], and now Cape Town City [away]... now as a football-intelligent person that knows football, can you say that these results are a concern?

"These draws were against genuine title contenders, season in and season out.. be reminded that we are a newly-promoted team. Although the brand is huge, we must respect these teams."

Swallows are on the road again today as they face ninth-placed Galaxy at Mbombela Stadium this evening (17h00).
