SuperSport hitting Bloemfontein

The Telkom Knockout champions will conduct the coaching clinic and train at Grey College led by head coach Gordon Igesund and the rest of the coaching staff.

SuperSport United have been steadily climbing up the League table despite their stuttering start to the campaign and will look to regain their rightful position on the standing when they come up against a resurgent Siwelele side on Wednesday.

Star players including Bafana Bafana winger Thuso Phala, midfielder Michael Morton and goalkeeper Ronwen Williams will be at the training session, which will take place on 10 March at 16h00.

“To have the Premier Soccer League team coming to Grey College just months after winning the Telkom Knockout Cup is just fantastic,” said Ludwig Koekemoer, Grey College representative.

“There are more and more united fans in the Bloemfontein area and it will be a big thing for us all to see the players train at our facility and also conducting the coaching clinic which will go a long way in identifying talent for the club.”

“It’s also a brilliant way to thank them for winning the TKO Cup and hopefully there will be many more to come in future years.”

The coaching clinic session will be from 14h00 till 15h30 where players from the LFA will be put through their paces by the revered coaches of Matsatsantsa.

The teams open training session begins at 16.00pm and entry will be free.

Matsatsantsa will also parade their TKO trophy around the school and give each of the young players an opportunity to take pictures with their favourite players.

The coaching staff will include club ambassador Jabu Mahlangu, who has been influential in promoting the SuperSport brand nationwide and garnering support for the team.

“This is a great treat for our fans and the young kids playing football in Bloemfontein,” said Jabu Mahlangu.

“To have Matsatsantsa at Grey College is an occasion which will go down well within the club ranks. This is an opportunity for the team to give back to our fans that are always behind us. Hopefully through these coaching clinics we will be able to spot some talent from this region.”
