SuperSport United CEO Stan Matthews has revealed the real reason midfielder Dean Furman has decided to leave the Tshwane giants.
The 31-year-old Bafana Bafana international confirmed in December last year that he would be leaving the PSL and South Africa at the end of the 2019/20 season.
But Furman has also made it clear that he will be staying with Matsatsantsa if he decides that he no longer wants to leave Mzansi.
Matthews has now revealed that the real reason the player wants to leave is because he is planning to start a family.
"He is leaving for UK at the end of the season to start a family with his wife, who is pregnant, and needs to fly back soon," Matthews tells KickOff.com.
"We will try to convince him to stay another year but we respect his decision. We respect his decision to put his family first and so we have left the ball in his court."
Has the club already identified Furman's replacement?
"Nope," Matthews replies.
"But we have six months and we need to give [Moses] Waiswa, [Tebogo] Mokoena, [Sipho] Mbule, [Jamie] Webber and Jesse Don a chance to put their hands up before we start looking outside."
