Sundowns to break bank for Mokoena

Negotiations between Mamelodi Sundowns and SuperSport United in a highly-publicised transfer for the services of midfielder Teboho Mokoena are now at an advanced stage.

KickOff can reveal that Mokoena looks set to join the reigning DStv Premiership champions in what will likely be the most lucrative transfer in the January transfer window.

The Bafana Bafana midfielder is also reportedly on the wish-list of Vincent Kompany's Anderlecht, however, the Brazilians are believed to be leading the race for Mokoena's signature.

The figures previously reported to be involved in the deal is an R20 million initial offer from Anderlecht, which has been bettered by Sundowns who have tabled a huge R25 million offer.

Mokoena's manager Glyn Birkin has confirmed the negotiations between the two parties are ongoing with a deal looking likely to be reached in the next few weeks.

"Negotiations are ongoing between both the clubs as well as the player and the club", Binkin tells KickOff.
