Sundowns players to share R40 million Nedbank Cup prizemoney


Mamelodi Sundowns players are set to share a whopping R40 million in prize money after lifting the Nedbank Cup to complete a treble of cups.

Sundowns clinched the Nedbank Cup after beating Marumo Gallants 2-1 at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium on Saturday.

The Brazilians have also sealed the DStv Premiership and the MTN 8 trophy this season and were unlucky to crash out of the CAF Champions League quarter-finals.

For winning the Nedbank Cup Final on Saturday, Masandawana pocketed R7 million after already securing R8 million, and R15 million in MTN 8 and DStv Premiership respectively.

With a further R10 million for reaching the quarter-finals of the Champions League this season.

Mamelodi Sundowns officials have confirmed the players sharing their prize money for winning the Nedbank Cup Final in Rustenburg on Saturday.

"They worked so hard this season and they deserve it. They deserve to be rewarded for their hard work and that's the normal standard at Mamelodi Sundowns, he said.

Mamelodi Sundowns and Cape Town City have already qualified for the Caf Champions League tournament next season.
