Sundowns goalkeeper set for another loan spell

Mamelodi Sundowns goalkeeper Jody February is set for yet another loan spell after impressing at Swallows FC during the 2021/2022 DStv Premiership campaign.

February produced impressive displays at The Birds after clinching a regular starting berth as the club survived relegation via the PSL promotion playoffs.

The former Ajax Cape Town shot-stopper is now set to spend next season on loan again at Swallows as the Soweto outfit aims to reinforce their squad.

The Brazilians currently possess four goalkeepers, Ricardo Goss, Reyaad Pieterse, Kennedy Mweene and Denis Onyango.

Goss remains the only keeper at Downs who has failed to break into the starting line-up since arriving from Bidvest Wits in 2020 and featured in less than three games last season.

Onyango though has shared words of encouragement with his fellow goalkeeper.

"It's not easy to come to Sundowns and immediately break into the team," Onyango said.

"I came to Sundowns in 2011 and couldn't play even a single game for two years because there was Wayne Sandilands and Calvin Marlin, and then Kenedy Mweene came in and I was sent out on loan.

"So it's very difficult to break into the Sundowns team immediately, you just need to stay focused," said Onyango.
