Baxter: 'Chiefs to cut down on silly goals'

Premiership

Kaizer Chiefs head coach Stuart Baxter has outlined his strategy to see his side get back to winning ways ahead of a DStv Premiership clash against new boys Royal AM on Saturday.

Speaking ahead of his side's clash, Baxter admitted that Chiefs would be aiming to cut out conceding what he labelled as "silly goals" while converting their chances in attack.

"We came off a defeat against Mamelodi Sundowns that didn't feel too good, Baxter said.

"We felt that we were worth a little bit more, our training at the moment is very much about trying to extend these periods of very good play.

"While trying to take away those unforced errors that are costing us silly goals and finishing the chances that we're creating.

"We're creating many chances in every game that we've played really, so we've got to close one door at one end and make sure that we take advantage of the other.

"So we've been working quite hard at that."

Baxter also detailed which adjustments his side would be looking to implement from the defeat to Sundowns.

"We had a lot of good play against Sundowns that we need to take and repeat so that it isn't just a one-off," Baxter added.

"If you watched the UEFA Champions League games last night, you would've seen the consistency and intensity of the teams.

"It's not 60% but is 99.9% for the whole game, so we need to adopt that attitude."

Kick-off is at 17:00.
