Pieterse joined Matsatsantsa from Kaizer Chiefs at the beginning of the season having played second fiddle to Itumeleng Khune during the time he spent at Naturena.
With 15 appearances made lat season in the absence of Khune, the 24-year-old stopper displayed that he has the qualities to keep goal for a top club.
However, he may find it tough going to dethrone Ronwen Williams especially after his heroics against Golden Arrows on Wednesday as he kept out Wayde Jooste's penalty.
Baxter admits that there are areas that Pieterse needs to improve on with the international break possibly presenting him with the perfect opportunity to do so.
"Reyaad's got a fantastic attitude and Reyaad works hard," Baxter told KickOff.com. "The other day I was taking to him about how he can work on his foot work and he asked those questions why and he knows he's got a few things to work on.
"If he can work on those things and of course he's competitive and that's great and he's pushing Ronwen and Ronwen owns the only shirt and he's always learning."
