Lekoelea makes bold Bucs-Birds call

Former Moroka Swallows and Orlando Pirates star Steve 'Chippa' Lekoelea believes high-flying Swallows FC will not stand a chance against his beloved Buccaneers on Sunday.

Swallows are currently tied on points with Mamelodi Sundowns at the top of the DStv Premiership table, but Lekoelea says that will not count come the weekend.

"Pirates is going to win," Lekoelea tells KickOff.com.

"This form thing is not working in derbies. It's a new game. Whether Swallows is on form or what it doesn't count. Pirates will walk all over Swallows. Their current form is not enough to beat Pirates.

"After losing to Sundowns, Pirates will not want to lose again to Swallows. Pirates is going to win, I'm telling you. The score is going to be 2-0, I'm telling you. Swallows is going to lose.

"There's no experience there at Swallows. There's only a few players with experience, the likes of [Musa] Nyatama, [Thabo] Matlaba, Cheeseboy [Mokoena] and Vuyo Mere. But sometimes they don't play all of them at the same time."

"Yes, Swallows is playing good football but they don't scare me," he continues. "Pirates have got a quality squad full of experience. From the bench to the starting line-up they've got experience. And that's what's going to help Pirates beat Swallows.

"Pirates only lost to Sundowns because they were still fresh from the [Christmas] break. I know Sundowns were also from the break but teams are not the same, Sundowns have got a huge squad.

"Swallows will keep their form until the end of the season but they will only end up in the top eight. Swallows will never beat Pirates, at least a draw will be right for them.

"Their win against Cape Town City has also brought them more pressure because now teams are aware that Swallows is dangerous."
