Following the news that Mandla Ncikazi could be headed to Orlando Pirates as assistant coach, KickOff.com now understands that a reunion with Steve Komphela is on the cards.
Arrows announced the departure of Ncikazi on Wednesday after helping them secure a top four spot in the league at the end of the past season.
Former Orlando Pirates captain Lehlohonolo Seema is already being linked with the vacant coaching position at Abafana Besithende.
It has now emerged that, with Zinnbauer's future up in the air at Pirates, there is a possibility that Ncikazi could work under Komphela once again.
Komphela and Ncikazi enjoyed a good working relationship in the past, having worked together at Free State Stars, Maritzburg United and Golden Arrows before the former relocated to Gauteng to join Mamelodi Sundowns last season.
According to sources close to the Buccaneers, Komphela was earmarked for the head coach position even before he joined Kaizer Chiefs back in 2015.
"Unless something big happens, it seems the two [Ncikazi and Komphela] will get the chance of working together again [at Pirates]," says the source.
"There is a lot happening behind the scenes and there could be big announcements before the start of the new season."
Komphela won a league medal for first time in his coaching career as he helped Sundowns to a record fourth consecutive championship title as senior coach.
