Stellenbosch release Chiefs target

Stellenbosh FC have confirmed the departure of Kaizer Chiefs-linked midfielder Phathutshedzo Nange.

Nange's anticipated move to Naturena has inched nearer after the 29-year-old defensive midfielder was released by fellow DStv Premiership side Stellenbosch on Thursday, following the expiration of his contract.

"The club would like to thank Phathutshedzo Nange for his year's service. We wish him all the best for his future," Stellies said in a statement.

The former Black Leopards and Bidvest Wits star departs the Cape-based outfit having left his mark at the club after he recorded five goals and three assists across all competitions last season.

He is the second player to leave Stellenbosch in as many days, after veteran defender Kristopher Bergman's release on Wednesday, and is expected to team up with Chiefs after the Amakhosi's two-window transfer ban came to an end on Thursday.
