Stellenbosch FC have announced the promotion of an academy youngster who previously turned out for their club's reserve team.
Stellenbosch have promoted teenage midfielder Jayden Adams, who has penned a long-term contract with the Western Cape outft.
Having played in the Multichoice Diski Challenge this season, he has already had a taste of what to expect in the professional ranks.
Adams, 18, has become the first product from the Stellies academy to sign a professional contract with the club since it's inception back in 2016.
The teenager managed five goals and four assists in 22 starts in the MDC this season, with head coach of the reserve team saying, "Adams orchestrated most of our attacking moves going forward and was definitely our player of the season."
This will come as a boost for coach Steve Barker, who will now have another option once the 2019/20 season resumes in the Gauteng bio-bubble.
Their first encounter will come against Golden Arrows next week Saturday afternoon (13h30) at the Tuks Stadium, a ground Barker is familiar with.
