Veteran striker Siyabonga Nomvethe has put his weight behind an Orlando Pirates player to win big on Sunday at the 2018/19 PSL Awards.
Nomvethe, who has now hung up his playing boots, did not hesitate when asked who he would pick to win the PSL Footballer of the Season.
"I choose Thembinkosi Lorch, he had a brilliant season and made a huge impact to the team creating and scoring important goals," he said. "He is an exciting player who loves attacking, reminding me of a younger me."
'Bhele' feels this season it was open for any team at the top, and even in the top eight and relegation zone it was hard to predict until the last game.
'Bhele' said this was the first time in 25 years of playing football professionally that he witnessed such tight competition in all areas of the league, and it was an honour to be a part of it.
"This was a very tough season for almost every team, from the top to the bottom, no one knew how things will end. First time experiencing this from a league, even us [AmaZulu] we thought we would finish in the top eight but two bad results changed everything. It was a season of inconsistency for many teams," Nomvethe added.
"Having this kind of league will benefit Bafana Bafana going forward because many players will want to be part of the national team and it may give selectors a good stress."
