Kaizer Chiefs legend Shane McGregor believes justice was served at the PSL Awards on Thursday when the club's players won nothing.
Despite being the best team for the better part of the 2019/20 Absa Premiership campaign as they sat on top of the log table for 28 matches, Chiefs lost their number one spot on the last day.
None of the Amakhosi players' hard work was recognised despite nominations for Samir Nurkovic, Lebogang Manyama, Daniel Cardoso, Daniel Akpeyi and former coach Ernst Middendorp.
"Do you think they deserve something? Maybe flop of the season ja," the ever-open McGregor responds to KickOff.com.
"Exactly, that's all they deserved hey. Well they were not good enough, that's as simple as that. Chiefs are a mediocre team, I said it the last time and I keep on saying it, they are a mediocre team.
"For what, what must they get? They won nothing, they did nothing, what must they get? Tell me which player at Chiefs deserves player of the season?"
Themba Zwane, who faces Chiefs in the first DStv Premiership game today (15h30), walked away with all the top prizes including PSL Footballer of the Season, banking R500 000 on the night.
"Well they won something, that's why they gave it to him, and he was consistent the whole year," McGregor adds.
"Nurkovic wasn't consistent the whole year. He's a good player but he wasn't consistent the whole year. I'll be honest with you, Nurkovic is the best player at Chiefs by far, but he wasn't consistent.
"I honestly think they don't deserve anything and ja they didn't get hey."
