Sekhukhune relying on home advantage against Chiefs

Sekhukhune United coach MacDonald Makhubedu is relying on home advantage when his side comes up against Kaizer Chiefs this weekend.

Sekhukhune United are set to host their final home match of the 2021/22 DStv Premiership season this weekend when they welcome Soweto giants Kaizer Chiefs to the Emirates Airline Park on Saturday.

Babina Noko head into the encounter on a disappointing nine-match winless streak in the league which has all but seen the club undo the promising early-season form that had played them into top 8 contention.

Despite this, head coach MacDonald Makhubedu believes his side can make the most of their home advantage to cause an upset against the CAF-chasing Kaizer Chiefs outfit this coming weekend.

"It will be a good game. The fact that we are at home gives us an advantage," Sekhukhune United coach Makhubedu said ahead of the encounter.

"We have been doing well. Unfortunately, we haven't been scoring goals but we have been playing well, very solid. We have missed a lot of chances but I think we will convert some of them this weekend.

"We are ready for this game. It will be a good game and we are not going to let our supporters down. We want to do well.

"Chiefs are in good form, they have been unlucky in some of their games. Even last weekend they played, especially in the last 15 or 20 minutes against a good Sundowns team.

"So, I think it will be a good game with two good teams but we need points. We need to win this and maybe get the chance in the top 8. We won't disappoint our supporters at home.

"We have everyone available in our squad so that gives us an edge also."

Kaizer Chiefs won the reverse fixture 2-0 in December courtesy of goals from Nkosingiphile Ngcbo and Phathetshedzo Nange, although that fixture is currently before the PSL disciplinary committee after it was alleged that the Amakhosi fielded two ineligible players.
