Sangweni: My fantasy Pirates signing

Siyabonga Sangweni has named a deadly goal poacher as a fantasy signing former club Orlando Pirates should recruit in the January transfer window.

A worrying statistic is that the Buccaneers had scored just 11 times in their opening 11 league matches before a crucial 3-0 win over Stellenbosch on Wednesday.

Sangweni says his dream is to see 2020/21 Golden Boot winner (16 goals) and SuperSport United danger man Bradley Grobler joining the Soweto giants in January.

"I would have looked for someone who can play as a target striker," Sangweni tells

"Someone who stick around the box. I would sign Bradley Grobler, that guy doesn't complicate things, you just allow him to stay in the box.

“Only the opponents' move will force him to drop back to collect the ball. As long he is inside the box he will do the job for you. He is my fantasy signing."

By saying that, Sangweni says he does not mean the current strikers at Pirates are to blame for the lack of goals.

"It's a difficult one because we do have strikers already in the team. We must also look at the supply, you can bring a lot of strikers but if there's no supply then how are they going to score.

"I don't remember Pirates strikers getting a clear cut chance, so we can say the problem starts in the middle."
