Nurkovic admits to Chiefs problems

Samir Nurkovic has acknowledged that the problems he had at the beginning of the season have contributed to his drop in form at Kaizer Chiefs.

The striker's shortcomings this season have left him with just four goals to his name, with just a handful of games remaining.

Nurkovic had several offers in writing from Abha FC and Kuwait Sporting Club that would have more than tripled his earnings rejected by Chiefs before he ultimately settled for an improved new two-plus-one-year deal to stay at Naturena.

He eventually only began playing this year, but goals have not been raining the way they did last season with just two in 25 appearances before his brace against Simba in the last game.

"With every football player there comes a time when he experiences a drop in form and everything. As everybody knows, I had a lot of problems at the beginning of the season and missed a lot of games," admits Nurkovic.

"It was a difficult time for me, but I am trying my best and working hard to reach the old form from the last season."

The Serbian will be keen to carry his form into the next game away in Dar es Salaam where they will arrive with a 4-0 lead from the first leg of their CAF Champions League quarter-final tie against Simba SC.

Chiefs must just avoid a heavy defeat to seal a historic semi-final place.

"Amazing feeling from the last game so I am excited and looking forward to the second leg, we are preparing and doing everything to go to the semis," he adds.

"I am there and trying my best to make them [the Chiefs fans] happy. We just have to stay focused and move on with the same fighting spirit from the last game, continue with the same performance and everything will be fine."
