An update has been issued by SAFA on the PSL transfer window, which was due to open next month.
With the 2019/20 PSL season yet to be completed, SAFA have written to FIFA to inform them of the developments in the country amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
The world football governing body has made provision for each member association to determine new dates for their respective winter registration periods, amid the uncertainty in various leagues across the world.
With government yet to issue the go-ahead for competitive football to resume, this has affected the start of the upcoming registration period, which can only begin once all fixtures of the current campaign are completed.
"We are waiting for the government to give us dates. Of course, we have written to FIFA to say that the league will go beyond the 30th [of June] so the transfer window is likely to change," SAFA acting CEO Tebogo Motlanthe tells KickOff.com.
"But FIFA will want the government directive as to when the games will resume and when are they going to end [before the transfer window dates are determined]."
This means that players who have failed to agree on an extension on their deals that expire at the end of June will remain free agents and clubless until such a time as SAFA and FIFA confirm the new registration window dates.
