FOTS nominee: I'm hard to ignore

Premiership

Swallows FC and Bafana Bafana forward Ruzaigh Gamildien says his good performances made it difficult for him not to be nominated for KICK OFF Footballer of the Season.

The former Chippa United star has seen an evolution in his game this season, with his contribution having helped Swallows to a historic run in the top-flight.

Gamildien's 11 goals thus far has made sure the 2019/20 GladAfrica Championship champions will not experience relegation in their first season in the DSTV Premiership.

For this reason, the 32-year-old has earned his place among the top eight performers this season and feels this is no surprise given his efforts thus far.

“Ja, obviously it's a good feeling to be nominated for KICK OFF Footballer of the Season. Mostly, it shows I have been doing good things, and hopefully I can pull it off and get the award,” Gamildien tells KickOff.com.

“It's the first time I'm nominated for this kind of award. Maybe this season, because I'm doing so well, I'm hard to ignore. Everything happens for a reason.

"To win it, obviously I need to put in some more performances, and obviously I need to concentrate more on my team. Hopefully, come the end of the season, I could get it.

“But I'm against stiff competition and it's going to be very tight. Obviously, if I can snatch the top goal scorer award then the other awards would favour me. But at the moment I'll just focus on scoring goals.

“Winning this KickOff award will give me a lot of hope. I will feel glad because obviously I've worked so hard this season.”

To bag the award, the Kaizer Chiefs-bound goal poacher will have to beat top performers like Peter Shalulile, Augustine Mulenga, Themba Zwane, Bradley Grobler, Deon Hotto, Fortune Makaringe and Mduduzi Mdantsane in the voting, as casted by you – the reader.
