Gamildien to Chiefs as good as done

Premiership can confirm that Ruzaigh Gamildien has agreed to a deal in principle to move to Kaizer Chiefs next season.

Gamildien has been a standout performer this term for Swallows FC with 11 goals to his name from 20 appearances, igniting interest from the misfiring Chiefs whose top scorer only has three league goals to his name with a third of the season already played.

With the two clubs already understood to have agreed terms, this website has now been informed that Gamildien has agreed to a one-year deal with an option of another year, meaning the deal is only subject to the usual formalities.

The move is expected to vastly improve 32-year-old Gamildien's earnings, proving just how much fortunes can change in football.

Within the last four-and-a-half years he has moved from being unwanted at Ajax Cape Town to being clubless for seven months, then playing in the ABC Motsepe League at Santos, then the first division with Cape Town All Stars and Chippa United, then back to the NFD with Steenberg United, Chippa again and then Swallows.

His earnings have shot up from the little that Santos paid him to what will be six figures next season at Chiefs.

Gamildien is a nomadic forward who broke into the PSL at Bloemfontein Celtic and has also played for AmaZulu and Ajax in the PSL in between stints with Milano United.

Also set to join Gamildien on the way out of Swallows is Njabulo Ngcobo, whose performances have been crying for a bigger stage.

Though still contracted past the end of this season, the level of interest in the defender means Swallows will find reason to allow him to leave should his admirers pay the required price.

Amakhosi have already raised their hand of interest and Ngcobo's agent, who is based in KwaZulu-Natal, will work on a big deal in winter.
