Agent speaks on De Reuck's future

Maritzburg United defender Rushine De Reuck has attracted attention for his performances this season, and his agent has commented on his future.

De Reuck, who has been tipped as future national team player by his coach Eric Tinkler, has featured in all of Maritzburg's 22 Absa Premiership games this season, putting in some irresistible displays.

The 24-year-old's agent says so far no club has approached him about the centre-back, who recently signed a five-year deal with the KwaZulu-Natal club.

"Ja there's no interest you know," Keegan Wasserfall of Siyavuma tells

"There's public interest, there's media interest, which is normal because he's playing well, but there's no interest from teams as far as I know."

Wasserfall was asked what he thinks the reason is that no team has shown a firm interest in such a talented player.

"I mean I can't force teams to be interested in players, he's just working hard and that's all he must do for now," the agent says.

"He's committed to the club and obviously there's a bigger picture in it. He first needs to keep working hard to get into Bafana and then try to look into Europe. That's our plan you know. That's obviously a preference but you can only assess if something comes up and is right for Maritzburg.

"But he is a young player and he's enjoying himself. And that's all he wants for now. We don't accept offers, you must understand it's the player's decision, it's the club's decision. It's not about us wanting the player to go here or there.

"Whether it's locally or it's abroad, it depends on if it's the right fit for Rushine. Ja of course Maritzburg must always give their blessing but it's difficult to say because we have not sat down to assess local clubs.

"When you are very happy at a place now and you are enjoying your football and you are young, you are not chasing the money or anything like that... the first thing to do is to get him to the national team. That's the only goal right now."
