Newly promoted Richards Bay FC have reportedly joined the race for the signature of Baroka FC defender Bonginkosi Makume.

Makume is on the wanted list of AmaZulu who have already indicated their interest with an initial proposal to Baroka for the player's services.

Bakgakga has so far already parted ways with Vusi Sibiya, Denwin Farmer and Nhlanhla Mgaga after being relegated to the GladAfrica Championship.

Makume is likely to find himself playing in KwaZulu-Natal next season with both Usuthu and the Natal Rich Boyz fighting for his signature.

"The negotiations between Baroka and AmaZulu are still ongoing," said a source close to the negotiations.

"But now, Richards Bay have also joined the race, and is interested in signing him for next season."

AmaZulu boss Sandile Zungu has already announced that he will be making two more signings before closing his chequebook ahead of next season.

Usuthu have so far signed the likes of Dumisani Zungu, Gabadinho Mhango and Ethan Books to boost their squad for next season.
