Ofori's feelings of chasing the big award

Maritzburg United goalkeeper Richard Ofori says he feels honoured to be nominated as the only goalkeeper vying for KICK OFF Footballer of the Season.

Ofori has been nominated alongside the likes of Themba Zwane and Gabadinho Mhango for our end-of-season award this year.

The Ghanaian goalkeeper has had a stellar season, guiding the Team of Choice to the Telkom Knockout final in December and helping them to fifth place in the Absa Premiership.

"As a keeper I feel happy and honoured, excited to be nominated as one of the footballers of the year," Ofori tells KickOff.com.

"I would like to thank God for the blessings. It's not often to see a keeper nominated in these awards so the mere fact that I am part of it this year means my efforts and hard work are noticed there.

"But all is made possible through God and most importantly my entire team as a whole who gave me the best and most comfortable environment to work in."

Eric Tinkler's side survived relegation last season but have come back strongly to challenge for honours in the current campaign, which is yet to be completed.

"This season has been amazing. Coming from playoffs last season we all came with a positive mentality to win and do our best for the team and the city," Ofori says.

"We are doing our job with full commitment and thanks to the fans that give us the best atmosphere to play in."
