Rhulani's thorough process pre-Baroka

Rhulani Mokwena has revealed the Mamelodi Sundowns coaches' thorough research process in preparation for the game against Baroka FC today.

Sundowns remain unbeaten in the DStv Premiership and completed the first round sitting on top of the table with 33 points after 15 games.

The Brazilians are expected to extend their unbeaten record in the league against Baroka at Loftus Stadium this afternoon (17h00).

Sundowns are still fresh from another victory in the CAF Champions League after beating Al Hilal of Sudan 2-0 on Saturday.

"Our preparations have gone well because it's important to get confidence and we are getting the results with performances," said Mokwena ahead of the league match in Tshwane.

"We are sitting in a position where we are satisfied with how we are playing and we know we can play better, but it gives us confidence to keep working hard on certain elements of our game and to improve our schemes so that we can improve the whole performance of the team, because we believe performances are always indicators for results.

"At the moment we are proud of the players and proud of the efforts of the group. The important thing now is also the psychological aspect of maintaining the humility and maintaining the profile of the team, which relates to working hard and doing the best we can to make sure we stay in the space we are in and improve certain elements of our game."

Mokwena is confident his team will continue doing well in the second round, starting with today's game against Bakgaga.

"Yah I think the game against Baroka has been very interesting to analyse. We have gone into their games... the Nedbank Cup against Cape Town Spurs, we’ve gone into their game against Chiefs and we have gone into the game against Cape Town City," he revealed.

"Those are their recent three games but we have also gone into the game that we played against them on 9 January, which is not far off, about four or five weeks ago.

"They are doing some very good work because the identity of the team is very clear. Structurally, they have a system in place, which you can pick out in the 4-3-2-1 formation, and they are very consistent regardless of their personnel."
