Rivaldo: Local move not a priority

Speaking at the Urban Warriors’ kit launch for the 2015/16 campaign, Coetzee explained that his firm focus is on getting ready for the new season with Ajax.

With regards to rumours about a possible transfer to clubs in Gauteng, Rivaldo said: “Nothing is official yet. I am waiting to hear from my agent.

“Ever since we closed last season he told me nothing about clubs wanting me. I am contracted to Ajax and I am focused here.

“For me, moving away from Ajax to another South African team is not a priority for me.”

Asked whether his club’s direct link to Ajax Amsterdam offers a route to Europe, Coetzee said: “It is every young boy’s dream to play overseas.

“To go to Amsterdam, one of the biggest teams in the world who also develop their young players would be a highlight and a very good step for me.”

The upcoming Cape Town Cup provides another opportunity for Coetzee and his teammates to sharpen up ahead of the League campaign and the MTN8.

Cape Town Stadium will host the tournament set to kick off this Friday night. SuperSport United face Crystal Palace followed by Ajax against Sporting Lisbon.
